In this short video the manager of Speed Karting Warrington, demonstrates how to get into a kart safely and achieve the correct driving position.

Video Transcript
Hi, my name is Joe, I'm from Speed Karting in Warrington and in conjunction with GoingKarting.co.uk I'd like to introduce you to an indoor racing kart.

Now, to get into the kart correctly, place one foot on the chassis, your right hand on to the steering wheel, putting your left hand on to the seat for balance and then bring your left foot round on to the brake pedal, you sit yourself down into the kart.

Now the reason you put your left foot onto the brake pedal first is that it is more than likely the kart will be running at this point, so to prevent it moving forward, that is the correct way to get in to the kart.

We then move down to the pedals themselves, the controls; right is accelerator and the left pedal is the brake. Whenever you sit in to a kart, you must make sure that when you press your brake pedal your knee is slightly bent to prevent any injuries should you have a crash on the circuit.

The steering on a kart is quite sensitive and requires your hands to be on the steering wheel at all times. A ten to two position is perfect.
